FIVE CHARACTER AREAS

The Silvertown masterplan is made up of five interlocking neighbourhoods, each with their own character, all connected together to create a new vibrant centre for the Royal Docks.

MILLS QUARTER Image

MILLS QUARTER

The focal point. Mills Quarter takes its name from Millennium Mills and will be home to Mills Square. Surrounded by affordable homes and next-generation workspace, the much-anticipated public square will be a place of waterside culture and community gatherings with an iconic industrial backdrop.

Millennium Mills and its surrounding square will also be a major employment quarter, with space for retail, food and drinks below and workspace above. The heart of the Mills Quarter neighbourhood, Mills Square will also play host to all kinds of events – with the festivities happily spilling over into Silo D park.

SILO D QUARTER Image

SILO D QUARTER

Named after its imposing landmark, this residential area also includes a new high street for the growing community and a central green park. To the west of the masterplan, Silo D Quarter links Custom House and Pontoon Dock stations – connecting local residents to the city beyond.

With easy access to the dock via the Royal Victoria Dock Bridge landing, Silo D park is designed to bring London closer to its water. Making the most of this enviable location, an active ground floor will surround both Silo D and its park.

The higher floors will be residential. Mainly made up of one and two-bed homes, they’ll feature bright, diverse materiality and a permeable ground floor that encourages active streets and a sense of community.

PONTOON DOCK Image

PONTOON DOCK

Once an innovative ship repair site, Pontoon Dock sits at the centre of the masterplan. A waterside destination with a rich history, it will transform London’s relationship with its water through easy access to kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming clubs.

Facing out over a large expanse of water, Pontoon Dock’s buildings will be bright, open, and lined with balconies and terraces. Down here, in the heart of the site, the Silo D finger dock becomes almost canal-like in nature – snaking through the neighbourhood and providing ample space for all kinds of water activities.

Built into an ecological waterpark and never far from the next bridge, walkway or lookout point, Pontoon Dock’s architecture will celebrate its open setting. Each block will have its own distinct personality too, with occasional bursts of colour and contrasting materials.

SILVERWORKS Image

SILVERWORKS

Just next door to London City Airport and the Connaught Bridge highway, Silverworks is a destination for making, doing, and collaborating. The perfect blend of productivity and creativity, it’s an unmissable opportunity for occupiers to make their mark on London.

Silverworks’ tapestry of workshops, studios and industry will provide a base for numerous lines of work. Clustered around a shared public yard, this lively hub will encourage chance encounters between people from all backgrounds, ages and sectors.

Here, you'll also find a waterside park. Primarily for teenagers and young adults, it will include a skatepark, basketball courts, and a climbing wall.

VICTORIA GARDENS Image

VICTORIA GARDENS

With its own leafy park, this tranquil residential neighbourhood is set back from the buzz of Silvertown’s centre. Here, the focus is on community, family living, and providing space for children to play and grow.

The character of Victoria Gardens is defined by its focus on families, with spacious play space an absolute priority.

Here, our Garden Block approach offers a new take on family housing, grouping several communal spaces around a central square to encourage friendships between children and families within the neighbourhood. Victoria Green will then link the two garden blocks and provide yet more space for neighbours to unwind and get to know each other.
