600 more homes approved at Silvertown

Plans for 600 new homes at Silvertown in the heart of the Royal Docks have been approved by Newham Council’s Planning Committee. The new homes will include affordable housing and will be delivered in collaboration with The Guinness Partnership.
Plot 78 will help form Silvertown’s vibrant new Silo D Quarter and represents the next phase of development to be brought forward as part of The Silvertown Partnership’s masterplan. Plans for this neighbourhood feature the future restoration of the Grade II listed former grain silo, Silo D, as well as a central public park that will connect to the existing historic building, Millennium Mills.
Located on the western part of the Silvertown site, bordered by North Woolwich Road and Spillers Street, Plot 78 will include two pocket parks where residents and visitors will be able to relax, socialise and play. Designed by Haworth Tompkins architecture firm, the buildings will feature commercial space on the ground floor, supported by a comprehensive retail provision along North Woolwich Road, signalling the emergence of a new local centre.
The regeneration of Silvertown is one of London’s largest urban redevelopment projects and will transform a 60-acre docklands site that has been largely vacant for over 40 years. The project will deliver around 6,500 new homes, with a focus on affordable housing.
Alongside new housing, the project will generate jobs, provide workers with new skills, and introduce a vibrant mix of community infrastructure, including shops, restaurants, bars, and a dockside leisure hub. With more than 1,300 workers expected on-site annually, Silvertown is designed to foster opportunities for local residents and contribute to Newham’s broader economic growth.
